18/10/2011: Celebrating our 25 years of innovation in Canada!
On Saturday, September 10th, Rheinmetall Canada opened its doors to invited guests from the community and its employees to celebrate 25 years of innovation in Canada. Over 800 people had the opportunity to visit Rheinmetall’s installations and to view static and live demonstrations of products and systems that the company has delivered to the Canadian Forces and other customers. During the morning session, community guests were hosted by the President, Andreas Knackstedt, who spoke of the company’s proud accomplishments, such as the design and development of its weapon stations family, the overhaul and repair of the Leopard tanks, the design and production of a high performance CASW system, and its entry into the navy market with the MASS. He also emphasized to local leaders that the company is here to stay and will continue to contribute to the region’s economic growth.
During the afternoon, company employees and their guests were allowed to visit the company’s administrative, engineering, assembly, integration, and test facilities. Interior displays included remotely operated weapon stations, soldier systems, and several work areas for the repair and overhaul of the Leopard 2 A4 tanks. Also on display was the MASS naval system currently being integrated on the Halifax class frigates of the Canadian Navy. Outside demonstrations highlighted road capabilities of the Leopard tank and a combined simulation of the detection and defensive features of the PST and CASW systems. In addition, children were treated to clowns, makeup artists, and a balloon artist.
A special thanks to all those who made this event a real success!
